Our logo is rooted in the biblical
reference in Revelations 12:1, a woman with a crown of stars in her
hair and the moon beneath her feet. A M is the abbreviation for Auspice
Mariae, under the patronage and protection of Mary. Three stars represent
the threefold mission of our parish. The crescent moon is a symbol associated
with the Immaculate Conception, the title for Mary as patroness for the
United States. The Coat of Arms of the Archdiocese of Washington also contains
three stars and a crescent moon. |
